On the occasion of its hundredth anniversary, the German-Italian Chamber of Commerce in Milan is taking stock. The Chamber of Commerce's wish that the resulting work should reach a wide readership is met by the book's bilingual nature and its moderate pricing. Another stated goal was not to present a self-referential chronicle of the Chamber, but rather determine its place in the larger historical context through a thorough historical investigation. The commissioning of Maximiliane Rieder, one of the leading experts on German-Italian economic ties, was the right choice to implement this intention.
