In this special section of The Italianist, we focus on the fictional rewritings of Italian history on television in the period of the Second Republic, paying particular attention to the format of the miniserie, usually a three-hour (two-episode) long series which in Italy is associated with prestige, high production values and craftsmanship, making history not only attractive for the beholder, but also a commercial success.
