Moving from the hypothesis that the philosopher might be considered a kind of “intentional gaffeur”, this article reflects upon the specificity of the philosophical gesture between practice and human knowledge. In opposition to a “heroic” conception of philosophy, that essentially considers it as discovery and accumulation of truth, it revaluates an idea of philosophy as a (philosophical) style of life, as an event of truth, as that critical, atopic and comical gesture that can suspend the ideological and utilitarian relationship with the knowledge and the powers of the city. Today such a conception of philosophy, the author claims, will allow it to free itself from both the severe bureaucratic heroism of academic philosophy and the tragic apocalyptic heroism of media philosophy.

Abstract
Moving from the hypothesis that the philosopher might be considered a kind of “intentional gaffeur”, this article reflects upon the specificity of the philosophical gesture between practice and human knowledge. In opposition to a “heroic” conception of philosophy, that essentially considers it as discovery and accumulation of truth, it revaluates an idea of philosophy as a (philosophical) style of life, as an event of truth, as that critical, atopic and comical gesture that can suspend the ideological and utilitarian relationship with the knowledge and the powers of the city. Today such a conception of philosophy, the author claims, will allow it to free itself from both the severe bureaucratic heroism of academic philosophy and the tragic apocalyptic heroism of media philosophy.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
