This paper focuses on the coins found during the archaeological survey conducted by Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia in the Wasit Governorate (Iraq) from 2018 to 2024. Many of the 52 coin so far discovered in 30 different sites are very difficult to identify because of their poor state of preservation; anyway, it has been possible to obtain a general picture of the coin finds. The majority of the pieces recovered are Seleucid and Parthian coins, issued from the end of the 4th century BCE and the beginning of the 3rd century CE. The comparison with the coin finds from other Mesopotamian sites (e.g. Seleucia on the Tigris) shows that there are many similarities, but also some significant differences.

Seleucia on the Tigris) shows that there are many similarities, but also some significant differences.I documenti in ARCA sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
