What remains of the transnational capitalist class at the time of the crisis of neoliberal globalisation? The article first outlines the core theses of Leslie Sklair’s 2001 theorisation of the dominance of a transnational capitalist class, and then focuses on some questions. Is there a single global class or are there multiple global classes? Can the new capitalist class be considered truly transnational or is it merely “Atlantic”? Who are the members of the new class? Is the transnational capitalist class a dominant class or is it a ruling class? The article aims to outline the main hermeneutical alternatives available, clarifying the strongest arguments in support of each of them and defining their theoretical consequences.

Abstract
What remains of the transnational capitalist class at the time of the crisis of neoliberal globalisation? The article first outlines the core theses of Leslie Sklair’s 2001 theorisation of the dominance of a transnational capitalist class, and then focuses on some questions. Is there a single global class or are there multiple global classes? Can the new capitalist class be considered truly transnational or is it merely “Atlantic”? Who are the members of the new class? Is the transnational capitalist class a dominant class or is it a ruling class? The article aims to outline the main hermeneutical alternatives available, clarifying the strongest arguments in support of each of them and defining their theoretical consequences.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
