The aim of the study is to interpret the changing relationship-building activities of the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the framework of three concepts: connectivity, apolarity, and hedging. The main conclusion of the research is that the Gulf monarchies managed to formulate interdependent relations with great powers, thus acquiring the ability to actively shape great power rivalry and global political developments, instead of being passive by-standers. The six countries, especially Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and Oman became indispensable for great powers to realize their interests on both the regional and global levels.

Abstract
The aim of the study is to interpret the changing relationship-building activities of the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the framework of three concepts: connectivity, apolarity, and hedging. The main conclusion of the research is that the Gulf monarchies managed to formulate interdependent relations with great powers, thus acquiring the ability to actively shape great power rivalry and global political developments, instead of being passive by-standers. The six countries, especially Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and Oman became indispensable for great powers to realize their interests on both the regional and global levels.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
