Il fumetto sulla Shoah nel contesto ceco: standardizzazione della memoria

Here we focus on a process related to the universalization of the Shoah, but distinct: that of a tendency toward standardization of stories and their narrative modes. By standardization we refer to the idea that there is a globally valid standard of storytelling, which varies from the use of images - topoi (e.g., the striped uniform) to that of universally recognized narrative mechanisms (subjective perspective), aiming at and implementing a fruition of a collectivity (universalization) that goes beyond the territorial boundaries of the specific event. The field in which we intend to investigate the concept of standardization is that of comics. Our focus is on two texts: Ohromný kotouč slunce (The Immense Disk of the Sun), which falls within the "universal canon" of the Shoah, and Gestapácké razítko (The Stamp of the Gestapo), which shows the typical ways of narrating the sacrifice of the Czech population.
