La filologia come strumento educativo contro la disinformazione in rete

Philology, mistakenly conceived by many as a discipline linked only to libraries, can instead prove to be an excellent ally against disinformation and false news online, a real bogeyman in the last decade. By reviewing all the solutions proposed to raise citizens' awareness of the tools at their disposal to avoid falling victim to disinformation, this article aims to demonstrate how all the proposals are animated by a philological spirit, also providing an example of a possible philological analysis of a false news spread through the social networks. The fundamental idea is so that philology, far from being a niche discipline destined to disappear, could have a more central role than ever in the times to come, thus transforming itself from an academic or specialist interest into a democratic and popular defence tool.
