The aim of the paper is to review the Venetic inscriptions between the 6th and 5th century BC, in order to bring out signals of the perception of a cultural identity and shed light on the circulation of individuals and cultural phenomena. A first evidence of identity is the existence of an alphabet that can be defined as ‘Venetic’; still on the subject of writing, the differentiation between the graphic uses of Este and Padua is also considered; the differences can be explained by willingness to underline their own identity. The mobility of individuals is traced on the basis of the onomastics which demonstrates, in particular in Padua, the presence of Etruscans and Celts.

Abstract
The aim of the paper is to review the Venetic inscriptions between the 6th and 5th century BC, in order to bring out signals of the perception of a cultural identity and shed light on the circulation of individuals and cultural phenomena. A first evidence of identity is the existence of an alphabet that can be defined as ‘Venetic’; still on the subject of writing, the differentiation between the graphic uses of Este and Padua is also considered; the differences can be explained by willingness to underline their own identity. The mobility of individuals is traced on the basis of the onomastics which demonstrates, in particular in Padua, the presence of Etruscans and Celts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
