The paper discusses the attribution of the argumenta Vergiliana of AL 1 and AL 2 Riese: presented by most ancient manuscripts as the work of a pseudo-Ovidius, in some 16th-century prints they are ascribed to Herennius Modestinus. A hypothesis as to the origin of this attribution is proposed here.
