La storia di una pietra, di un albero, o di una montagna: connessioni antropologiche tra le valli di Fiemme e Piné

The area between the Fiemme valley, the Cembra valley, and the Piné Plateau shows remarkable similarities in the way in which natural resources, in particular porphyry and fir wood, have been extracted and exploited. This article analyses the intertwining of historical convergences and divergences between the two territories through the research experience of the two authors. The affordance of stone and wood are not sufficient to define the cultural modalities of their exploitation, nor to understand the configurations of the extractive landscapes, but they acquire meaning only considering the economic and political processes that made the extractability and abstraction of the resources possible. In other words, the resource is the historical outcome of a cultural reorientation of stone-material and wood-material through specific overarching dynamics of translation and valorization.

L’area compresa tra le valli di Fiemme, Cembra e l’Altopiano di Piné mostra notevoli somiglianze nelle modalità di estrazione e sfruttamento delle risorse naturali, in particolare il porfido e il legno d’abete. Questo articolo analizza l’intreccio di convergenze e divergenze storiche tra i due territori attraverso le esperienze di ricerca dei due autori. Le affordance della pietra e del legno non bastano a definire le modalità culturali del loro sfruttamento, né a comprendere le configurazioni dei paesaggi estrattivi ma trovano pienamente senso solo alla luce dei processi economici e politici che hanno reso possibile l’estraibilità e l’astraibilità delle risorse. La risorsa, in altre parole, costituisce l’esito storico di un riorientamento culturale della materia-pietra e materia-legno per mezzo di specifiche dinamiche sovraordinate di traduzione e valorizzazione.
