This article aims to show some critical issues in identifying a shared reference for the notion of geographical night. First, we focus on Night Studies, by specifying that their interdisciplinarity does not exclude the identification of a common subject of study: the notion of geographical night. Second, we examine the main accounts aimed at delineating a referent for this notion, whilst highlighting their critical points. Finally, we conclude that, in order to avoid such critical points, we should rethink the interdisciplinarity of Night Studies through the integration of two different approaches on the study of the night: the top-down and the bottom-up approach.

Abstract
This article aims to show some critical issues in identifying a shared reference for the notion of geographical night. First, we focus on Night Studies, by specifying that their interdisciplinarity does not exclude the identification of a common subject of study: the notion of geographical night. Second, we examine the main accounts aimed at delineating a referent for this notion, whilst highlighting their critical points. Finally, we conclude that, in order to avoid such critical points, we should rethink the interdisciplinarity of Night Studies through the integration of two different approaches on the study of the night: the top-down and the bottom-up approach.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
