Geo-ontologie, prospettivismo ontologico e geografia del senso comune

In addition to constituting part of the conceptual background of geo-ontologies, philosophy and geography can provide some prospects of research that may be useful for improving the general aims of informativeness and accessibility required by such tools – especially, when they have to describe multidisciplinary domains. Accordingly, the purpose of this article is analyzing some of these prospects. The first two paragraphs are devoted to the philosophical reflection, showing some ontological approaches to GIS and geo-ontologies, and how ‘ontological perspectivalism’ can supply a platform for integrating conceptualizations coming from different domains of investigation. The third paragraph is focused on the ‘common sense geography’, analyzing three different meanings of such a locution and clarifying how it can improve the accessibility of geo-ontologies.
