Il respiro della metafisica. Un breve promemoria

The breath of metaphysics: a short reminder. The truths of Christian theology were formulated according to the principles and categories of classical metaphysics (according to the logic of Incarnation). On the other hand, in its autonomous work metaphysics has always followed the guidelines of religious tradition and Christian revelation. In the last and a half century Catholic theology had to face a few crises rejecting classical metaphysics such as Modernist crisis and Post-Conciliar crisis. Their refusal has its roots in the writings of authors such as Kant, Bergson and Heidegger. Beside misunderstandings and misinterpretations (some fossilized scholastic traditions were able to foster) the comparison with these authors leads to a more rigorous development of the metaphysical discourse. This opens a space to thought – the proper space of metaphysics – which is to be explored; a space where ascertaining truth elements means a further opening to mystery.
