Within the framework of the project “Greek, ancient and modern”, in the schools of Veneto, awarded with the European Language Label 2011, the Greek language and literature is promoted abroad. This project is the fruit of a collaboration between Italian Classical High Schools and the Department of Modern Greek Studies of the University of Ca'Foscari in Venice. The aim of this paper is to present the teaching methodology in one of the twenty-eight Italian classical high schools that they have been experimented with the teaching of Modern Greek language by introducing it as a supplement to the teaching of Ancient Greek or Italian literature. At the Classical Lyceum 'Marco Polo', systematic teaching of Greek studies has been achieved, resulting in a successful outcome of the language learning process. An example is the isolated case of the Greek translation and analysis of ancient Greek verses of the Iliad and the Odyssey in the classroom, which gave rise to an enthusiastic collective translation of the above poems into various languages from different eras, culminating in their publication and participation in literary conventions. Undoubtedly, such an effort fosters the principles of intercultural education and ensures cooperation and mutual respect between students with different cultural identities. It is a 'Greek proposal for education' that promotes the values and ideals of Greek culture.

Abstract
It is a 'Greek proposal for education' that promotes the values and ideals of Greek culture.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
