Abstract

0e publication, within the French academic environment, of three original and well-researched works dedicated to the relationship between humans and animals (Bernardette Lizet e Jacqueline Milliet (a cura di), Animal certifié conforme. Mises en scène du sauvage dans la société post-rurale, Presse Universitaire de Rennes, 􀀑􀀏􀀐􀀐) provides an opportunity to reflect on one of the most surprising shapes that this relation can take. 0e many rich ethnographic accounts contained in the three books focus on the regained interest for predation and wilderness we are currently experiencing in Western countries. What is particularly interesting is that this is happening within a society that shows a growing interest also for topics such as sustainable development, eco-responsibility and animal wellbeing. 0e aim of these three books is to give a valid explanation of this apparently paradoxical situation.
