GRECIA OCCIDENTALE ED EPIRO NELLA PROSPETTIVA DI ETTORE LEPORE

E. Lepore's 1962 Ricerche sull´antico Epiro represents an innovative approach to the Epirus reality, which for the first time is reconstructed through a meticulous analysis of the archaeological documentation and of the mythical and historical traditions, in the formation of a community in a defined geographical area. In the work, Lepore was developing his own research method, in which it is possible to trace some influence, personally rethought, of the Annales. Also in this scientific realization of Lepore, whose legacy and historical perspectives are traced in the present contribution, we note that aspiration to ´total philology´ which will become a central point of his historical method.
