The early Italian literary record comprises a significant number of prosimetric works, alongside texts written entirely in verse or in prose: well-known prosimetra include Dante's Vita nova, Boccaccio's Ameto, Sannazaro's Arcadia and Bembo's Asolani. While individual prosimetra have often been studied in depth, more consistent, large-scale research into this category of texts is a more recent phenomenon, still lacking thorough investigation. The InProV research project aims to provide a comprehensive inventory of Italian vernacular prosimetra composed between 1250 and 1500. By analyzing the complete resulting corpus, the project aims to provide better insight into the development of this diverse literary tradition, which originates unquestionably with Dante's Vita nova.
