Achmatova traduce Szymborska? Autorialità traduttiva nella Russia sovietica

The aim of the present article is to investigate in the context of Soviet Russia the question of authoriality of the translator, a definition which refers both to the degree of intellectual and stylistic autonomy guaranteed to translators during the translation process and the final acknowledgement of their authorship. The case study of the three poems written by Wisława Szymborska (Hunger Camp At Jaslo, Ballad and Drinking Wine), and translated by Anna Akhmatova and Anatoly Naiman in 1964 shows the crisis of the conception of authoriality in translation in the Soviet cultural system due to cultural politics of ideologization, institutionalization and centralization of the practice of translation. By analysing the cultural background and the metric-stylistic features of the translation signed by Akhmatova, the article intends to illustrate the dynamics that determined the death of the author-translator.
