This essay focuses on the ontological relationship between the Ego and the philosophical datum of death within the poetics of Cristina Campo in Passo d’Addio. The subject is addressed through a comparative and critical-philosophical methodology, to highlight the points of coincidence and divergence between Campo’s work and that of Corrado Alvaro in Poesie grigioverdi. In the study, the relationship with the Kafkaesque conception is also deepened, since it is considered as a fundamental reference in the field of 20th century philosophical and poetic theory on the aesthetic thematization of death, transcendence, and the relationship with spiritual alterity. The aim is to propose a critical reading focused on a particular aspect of Campo’s ontology, which is crucial to the understanding of her poetic and intellectual work, on the eve of the centenary of her birth.
