The contents of the Bible are central for the life of a Christian community, and a clear and faithful translation of the original message is necessary to convey it to the faithful. The first complete Catholic Bible in Chinese was published in 1968 and, subsequently, other translations of the Chinese Bible have been published, while the significant role of the Bible has been constantly supported and enhanced by other texts, both translated and directly written in the Chinese language. In this chapter, two Chinese versions of the Gospel of John will be analyzed to explore the features of the two volumes the Studium Biblicum Version (Sigao Shengjing 1968) and Xinyue Shengjing (2014). The history of the two translations will be presented and the structure of the text will be analyzed.
