Barcelona, latitud – longitud Europa

“Barcelona has over time been a city with a European vocation. Before the independence outburst there were statements and actions by the romantics, modernistes, noucentistes and the avant-garde. Following some of Asendorf's proposals in Batteries of Life: on the history of things and their perception in modernity, I want to discuss some representative examples of declarations of ‘love’ for Europe, the impact of Modernity on transport and urban transformations, and testimonies about the disappearance of urban spaces. I am interested in presenting the European coordinates of Barcelona, as a city that thinks from a European perspective in a very specific political and cultural moment: the arrival into Modernity.”
