The present invention refers to a process for the preparation of P(=O) heteroatom derivatives of the dibenzooxaphosphacycles compounds of formula 6H- cibenzo[c,e][1,2]oxaphosphinine 6-oxide (DOPO) and dibenzo[d,f][1,3,2]dioxaphosphepine 6-oxide (BPPO). It also refers to a process for the preparation of polymeric formulations containing it; and a process for the preparation of a flame retardant polymer using the P(=O) heteroatom derivatives as monomer.

Abstract
