Strategic Planning is an administrative tool widely used in organizations nowadays. The fierce environment and the professionalization of the sectors have made small companies, especially family businesses, reflect on their implementation. This paper investigates the feasibility and difficulties of implementing Strategic Planning in a small family-owned company in the food industry. Through a case study with interviews and systematic observations, it was possible to understand that the managers value the tool, but its implementation is hindered by the need for change, communication, and greater control over the process. This goes against the horizontal structure that the small family-owned company presents, ending the Strategic Planning process.

Abstract
