Digital Art History, as an area of the digital humanities, is affected by heterogeneous theoretical positions, each differently involved in defining its theoretical and methodological validity. The purpose of this article is to collect the main reflections which animate this debate on the disciplinary basis of new theoretical research. The aim of this research is to identify, according to the various lines of thought, the method best suited to the objectives of Digital Art History.

Abstract

Digital Art History, as an area of the digital humanities, is affected by heterogeneous theoretical positions, each differently involved in defining its theoretical and methodological validity. The purpose of this article is to collect the main reflections which animate this debate on the disciplinary basis of new theoretical research. The aim of this research is to identify, according to the various lines of thought, the method best suited to the objectives of Digital Art History.
