This analysis examines how cinema addresses the issue of marginalization in response to the impact of urbanization. Specifically, it focuses on the work of a migrant director in which the destruction of the "artistic village" of Caochangdi in Beijing overlaps with the loss of traditional rural practices in Tibet. By exploring how these two forms of marginalization are represented in film, this analysis aims to shed light on the ways in which cinema can challenge dominant narratives about urbanization and modernization.
