The purpose of this chapter is to explain the importance of a gender approach to migration in international law, especially focusing on Chapter VII of the Council of Europe Istanbul Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence. The contribution reflects on the Convention as interpretative instrument of the European Convention on Human Rights to argue in favor of a gender-sensitive protection par ricochet of women victims of violence in their country of origin.
