Family firms are a cornerstone of many economies, contributing to job creation, innovation, and economic stability. Understanding the complex interplay between family values, traditions, and business management can offer valuable insights into the success and longevity of these businesses. This ongoing research project explores the unique family firms known as Osmizas, situated at the crossroads of Italy and Slovenia. These family-run establishments serve as places for locals and tourists to sample and savor homemade food and wine, while preserving local culinary traditions, fostering social connections, and promoting a sense of belonging among the local population. Through interviews with owners and patrons of these establishments and a multifaceted approach, the study aims to uncover the cultural, social, and economic value of Osmizas, as well as their role in shaping the regional identity, fostering local tourism, and sustaining family traditions. Empirical insights have revealed that Osmizas serve as crucial links in intergenerational knowledge transfer, promoting environmental stewardship, supporting local economies, and contributing significantly to the cultural, social, and economic fabric of the regions in which they are situated. This research contributes to a broader understanding of the role that such establishments play in shaping community identity and fostering sustainable development, and suggests further avenues of research into the impact of Osmizas on regional tourism and their adaptation to changing consumer preferences and local ecosystems.

This research contributes to a broader understanding of the role that such establishments play in shaping community identity and fostering sustainable development, and suggests further avenues of research into the impact of Osmizas on regional tourism and their adaptation to changing consumer preferences and local ecosystems.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
