Richiesti e rifiutati. Presenza e lavoro degli immigrati in Veneto tra radicamento e disuguaglianze

The article examines immigration in Veneto Region from the beginning of the 90s to the end of the 10s, focusing mainly on three aspects: presence, labour, integration. A profound process of rooting of immigrant populations emerges, which has resulted in a great transformation of the local context; at the same time there are several inequalities affecting immigrants. “Attracted and rejected”, local society for a long time conceived them as unwanted guests, aliens to be put up with for reasons of utility, holding an ambivalent position towards them.
