The aim of this study is to discuss the answering strategies provided by 75 Italian children aged 3;5-6;2 in an experiment eliciting the production of passive sentences. In addition to passive sentences, children produced active sentences containing clitic pronouns (with both preverbal and postverbal subjects) and simple SVO sentences. The different strategies are evaluated with respect not only to their being syntactically correct, but also to their being pragmatically appropriate.

In addition to passive sentences, children produced active sentences containing clitic pronouns (with both preverbal and postverbal subjects) and simple SVO sentences.
