This article presents the unpublished manuscript “libretto” for a ballet-pantomime by Favart and Grandvoinet de Verrière performed in 1736 at Saint-Laurent Fair in Paris. The allegorical subject is submitted to satirical transformations: preciosity literary features, pastoral dramatic elements and figurative emblems become the means for a humouristic view on society, in line with Diderot disenchantment about innocence.
