Ramón Gómez de la Serna emigrante (Notas sobre "Automoribundia")

Analysis of how Ramon Gomez de la Serna represents his emigration in Automoribundia (1948), also comparing it with other autobiographical texts. The main subjects are the abandonment of Madrid, when civil war broke out in 1936, and the arrival in Buenos Aires as an emigrant who always refused to consider himself like that. Through this paradox the vanguard’s writer expressed his marginalization and poverty, being reticent about his relationship with the Francoist dictatorship. This was the reason why the literary community of Buenos Aires isolated him. Highlighting the hidden context of Automoribundia helps to interpret the fragmented style of the text, where also silence produces meanings. At that time the author had secret expectations. Few months after publishing his autobiography he travelled to Madrid, where he received great honours from the regime. Nevertheless he chose Buenos Aires again, where he lived in complete isolation until his death.
