Continuità ed evoluzione nelle pugne cittadine fra medioevo ed età moderna: il 'caso' italiano

The contribution proposes a reconsideration on the long period of the city 'pugne': practices in which they combined elements of the game, of the training to the weapons, of the aggregative ritual to others of real collective violence. The attention is turned, in particular, to the phenomenon as attested in Italy in the Middle Ages and in the first part of the modern age (in Italy such custom took the name of 'battagliola'). Of the 'pugna' are highlighted especially the changes and adaptations in practice and functions carried out between the thirteenth and sixteenth centuries.

Una riconsiderazione sul lungo periodo delle 'pugne' cittadine: pratiche nelle quali si combinarono elementi propri del gioco, dell'addestramento alle armi, del rituale aggregativo ad altri di vera e propria violenza collettiva. L'attenzione è rivolta, in particolare, al fenomeno come attestato in Italia (dove la 'pugna' era chiamata anche 'battagliola') nel medioevo e nella prima parte dell'età moderna. Della 'pugna' sono messi in evidenza soprattutto i cambiamenti e gli adattamenti nella pratica e nelle funzioni svolte fra XIII e XVI secolo.
