The main theorem of my paper mentioned in the title [J. Algebra 370, 171-175 (2012; Zbl 06162674)] can be much more easily obtained using a result of V. D. Mazurov [Algebra Logika 39, No. 1, 74-86 (2000); translation in Algebra Logic 39, No. 1, 42-49 (2000; Zbl 0960.20025)]. Actually, if G=⋃ g∈G H g with H≅PSL(2,2 n ) or H=K<t>, where t is an involution acting as the inversion on the periodic group K free of elements of order 2, then Theorem 2 of V. D. Mazurov [loc. cit.] applies.
