The new theoretical and methodological orientations of the recent updated version of the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages (Companion Volume) attribute a renewed pedagogical importance to linguistic mediation. The aim of thispaper is to propose a series of reflections on the didactic validity of the use of translation in the process of teaching and learning Spanish as a foreign language, highlighting aspects that may potentially prove "threatening" due to the linguistic affinity between Spanish and Italian.

Abstract
