Traducción y sistematización taxonómica de fraseologismos dotados de carácter idiomático y metafórico en la comunicación política entre lenguas afines

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, among its many consequences, has made clear the power that communication can have in the political sphere and the influence that certain political figures can exert when it comes to conveying information and guiding citizens' behaviour. This paper is framed within the field of political communication and aims to systematise the different types of phraseological units in a large corpus of speeches, delivered by the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in 2020. After identifying them from the corpus, we proceeded to find appropriate translation equivalents in the target language, i.e. Italian, and then analysed the translation procedures adopted to translate the phraseological units between two related languages (Spanish-Italian). In order to categorise the translation techniques, we have used Corpas Pastor's taxonomic proposal (2003: 275-300), which consists of seven procedures suitable for dealing with the process of translating phraseological units.
