The long and monotonous string of the universal Spirit. Disciplinarization and internationalization in the philosophy conference

Starting from the analysis of the four first international philosophy conferences, this article tries to isolate three main features of this all new form of intellectual sociability in philosophy : 1) the attempt of standardizing the practices and of optimizing the exchanges of information, 2) the link between exchanges of goods and exchanges of symbolic commodities, 3) a conflicting context both on the national and international level. On the base of those analysis, the article tries to provide an answer to the dysfunction of this form.
