Abstract
The time of Othello · The essay attempts an analysis of the so-called ‘double time scheme’ of Shakespeare’s Othello, starting from an analysis of its scansion, different from that – of a rhetorical and non-scenic character – evidenced by the division into five acts in the printed tradition of the play. The extreme determination, on the one hand, of the explicit indications, of durations and of day and hour, and the conduct of a concentrated time, of a tragic-symbolic nature, are therefore investigated in a perspective that supports this double, coherent, system , which allows, in addition to the specific case, a broader reflection on stage time.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
