Il linguaggio "politicamente corretto" come questione filosofica

This paper seeks to critically consider the phenomenon of political correctness, showing its positive aspects, but also denouncing its widespread degeneration. The attempt to give new names to the same things can help to show aspects of reality that normally do not come to light; and this helps us to see better and to live better. However, when calling things by another name is meant to conceal their true face, then the operation turns out to be purely strategic - and this is what mostly happens. The strategy of political correctness seems to be oriented towards making the indexical dimension of language prevail over the semantic one, in function of social self-accreditation. Moreover, this strategy seems to want to escape the criticism of a public reason actually practiced, imposing itself rather in the form of "doxa". This phenomenon has wide repercussions also in academic policies and, not secondarily, in philosophical culture.

Il presente intervento cerca di considerare criticamente il fenomeno del politicamente corretto, mostrandone gli aspetti positivi, ma denunciandone anche le diffuse degenerazioni. Il tentativo di dare nuovi nomi alle cose di sempre pu aiutare a mostrare aspetti del reale che normalmente non vengono in luce; e questo aiuta a vedere meglio e a vivere meglio. Quando per chiamare le cose con un altro nome vuole occultare il loro vero volto, allora l’operazione si rivela puramente strategica – ed è ci che prevalentemente accade. La strategia del politicamente corretto sembra orientata a far prevalere la dimensione indessicale del linguaggio su quella semantica, in funzione di un autoaccreditamento sociale. Tale strategia, inoltre, sembra voler sfuggire alla critica di una ragione pubblica effettivamente praticata, imponendosi piuttosto in forma di “doxa”. Il fenomeno ha ampie ricadute anche nelle politiche accademiche e, non secondariamente, nella cultura filosofica.
