This is the reduced version of a paper prepared for the twelfth EURAMAL (European Association for Modern Arabic Literature) conference on “Upholding Humanity in a Post-Human World? Arabic Literature after the ‘Arab Spring’”, University of Oslo, Norway, 30 May-04 June 2016. The full version is now included in the proceedings of the conference. The study analyses a 2015 composite novel by Egyptian writer Mona Prince and tries to explain the relationship between the author's political activism and her literary career. Moreover, since the novelist wrote the text between 2008 and 2014, this article offers some notes on satiric literature in pre- and post-2011 Egypt.
