Francesco Mari, Umbrian priest and biblical scholar of the early twentieth century, participated in the renewal of biblical studies according to a historical-critical approach. He was repeatedly condemned by the Holy See for his modernist tendencies. These notes mainly examine the denunciations received by the Umbrian presbyter, after the apostolic visit to the diocese of Nocera Umbra and the publication of Il quarto Vangelo (his exegetical study on the Gospel according to John, condemned to the Index Librorum Prohibitorum in 1910), with a mention of a new censure in 1916, again on the charge of modernism.

Abstract
Francesco Mari, Umbrian priest and biblical scholar of the early twentieth century, participated in the renewal of biblical studies according to a historical-critical approach. He was repeatedly condemned by the Holy See for his modernist tendencies. These notes mainly examine the denunciations received by the Umbrian presbyter, after the apostolic visit to the diocese of Nocera Umbra and the publication of Il quarto Vangelo (his exegetical study on the Gospel according to John, condemned to the Index Librorum Prohibitorum in 1910), with a mention of a new censure in 1916, again on the charge of modernism.File in questo prodotto:
