Scholarship on numismatic self-representation of senatorial families has always paid attention to the iconography of Roman Republican coins, usually overlooking the onomastic features. This paper is an attempt to (partially) fill this gap: it focuses on some aspects of the onomastic formulae employed by late Republican moneyers and highlights their significance for further research on the ideology and prosopography of the Roman aristocracy.

Abstract
Scholarship on numismatic self-representation of senatorial families has always paid attention to the iconography of Roman Republican coins, usually overlooking the onomastic features.
