Giuseppe Prezzolini and the Intellectual as 'Vociano' · Between 1906 and 1908, Giuseppe Prezzolini radically modifies philosophical and operating assumptions of his own intellectual work, moving with extreme rapidity from a Bergsonian-pragmatist approach to a Crocean one. This philosophical repositioning allows the formation of a new kind of intellectual; an intellectual who, partially abandoning the humanistic perspective, actively starts to work within some institutions (libraries, newspapers, schools, bureaucracy, etc.) that are contiguous to the functioning of the State. This shift represents the theorization and the birth of a new intellectual figure: the 'Vociano'. My essay analyzes Prezzolini's shift to the new philosophical milieu, and then connects the Crocean approach to the new intellectual type as developed by the director of «La Voce».
