This paper presents the preliminary results of a typochronological analysis of selected findings from Este – via Comuna (Padua, north-eastern Veneto, Italy). This site has been identified during public works in 2015. Archaeological research has discovered evidence of a settlement built in a dry context on the surface of an elevated sandy hillside and of a pile-dwelling settlement in a humid area. The evidence found is pertinent both to housing structure on the ground (ditches, pile holes, fireplace residues) and to structures of the pile-dwelling type (large vertical piles, branches). The study of ceramic materials, especially grip elements of pottery, was aimed at the chronological and cultural framing of the settlement. From a chronological point of view, the site is dated back to an early phase of the Recent Bronze Age I (BR1), while as far as the cultural aspect is concerned, several elements of comparison are evident with contemporary contexts of central-southern Veneto, the pile-dwelling and terramare, Romagna and Adriatic areas.
