La protezione dei dati personali nell'attività di ricerca scientifica

The processing of personal data for scientific research purposes represents an essential part of researchers’ activities: in particular, the use of personal information is deemed beneficial for the elaboration of models, the verification of theories and the improvement of knowledge. The advent of digital age and the evolution of technology have made collection, storage and circulation of personal data much easier and faster for scientists. Even though research enjoys a more favorable position, it is necessary to find, in practice, an equilibrium with data protection. A possible solution could be in carefully organising researchers’ activities, in compliance with the general principle of data minimisation: special emphasis should be placed on the technical and organisational measures, as well as on the task of those who monitor research works.
