The role that Pasquale Saraceno (1903-1991) had in the renewal of the university teaching of management is little known to historians. He was a catholic economist, active in the Iri and Svimez, and a supporter of economic planning. When arriving at Ca 'Foscari in 1959 he started an innovative educational and scientific project to make business studies modern and autonomous. He established a virtual department of business administration and started in Venice in 1971, at the same time as the Bocconi University in Milan, the first university course in Italy on the subject.
