In this paper I have tried to point out how the epistemological paradigm of German Classical Philology, as it has been worked out by Wilamowitz and later redefined by his follower Werner Jaeger, have had a pivotal role in Leo Spitzer's conception of philological scholarship. As a final aim of this enquiry, I try to elighten the implicit dialogue (via Wilamowitz-Jaeger) between Leo Spitzer's idea of 'classical harmony' - as it has been worked out in Spitzer's last and posthumous book, "Classical and Christian Idea of World Harmony" - and Nietzsche's "Die Geburt der Tragoedie".

Abstract
In this paper I have tried to point out how the epistemological paradigm of German Classical Philology, as it has been worked out by Wilamowitz and later redefined by his follower Werner Jaeger, have had a pivotal role in Leo Spitzer's conception of philological scholarship. As a final aim of this enquiry, I try to elighten the implicit dialogue (via Wilamowitz-Jaeger) between Leo Spitzer's idea of 'classical harmony' - as it has been worked out in Spitzer's last and posthumous book, "Classical and Christian Idea of World Harmony" - and Nietzsche's "Die Geburt der Tragoedie".File in questo prodotto:
