The aim of this paper is to study two bronze sheets, both of them carrying a Venetic inscription, found in 1990 in Padua, within the eastern necropolis, but not associated with a grave context. The better preserved sheet, cut into a curved shape, represents a fish, whereas a long inscription forms two wave motifs along the convex side; only some fragments of the second sheet are preserved, with a similar shape and part of a second inscription. In our opinion, these sheets may have been a covering for a curved stick (lagobolon or pedum), with relevant comparisons in Veneto and in Etruria too. Reading and interpretation of the inscriptions are very difficult, but they probably support the hypothesis. In this perspective, and with the aid of other relevant public inscriptions and archaeological contexts, we can speculate about ceremonies and restructuring activ- ities of the urban districts in Padua between the 5th and the beginning of the 4th century BC.

Abstract
In this perspective, and with the aid of other relevant public inscriptions and archaeological contexts, we can speculate about ceremonies and restructuring activ- ities of the urban districts in Padua between the 5th and the beginning of the 4th century BC.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
