This article offers an analysis of the travel in a selection of picaresque novels, focusing briefly on four specific aspects: the motivations for the travels, different to mere drifting; the preference for the urban environment and the descriptions of cities and people, both in Spain and in Europe; the particular case of Estebanillo, whose adventures exceed all preceding tales and bring together history and fiction; and finally the voyage to the New World, the dreamed port of wealth and social promotion, which appears in picaresque texts less than could be expected.

Abstract
This article offers an analysis of the travel in a selection of picaresque novels, focusing briefly on four specific aspects: the motivations for the travels, different to mere drifting; the preference for the urban environment and the descriptions of cities and people, both in Spain and in Europe; the particular case of Estebanillo, whose adventures exceed all preceding tales and bring together history and fiction; and finally the voyage to the New World, the dreamed port of wealth and social promotion, which appears in picaresque texts less than could be expected.File in questo prodotto:
