The model of the poem «The breakfast» (The hax and the rose, 1993) by Luis Alberto de Cuenca is a famous text of Neruda’s Twenty love poems and a song of despair (1924, num. 15), which is rewritten in a funny way. Starting with the comments about Neruda from the poet, this work aims to examine in detail the process of rewriting, which changes the love vision, as well as the role attributed to the women, with an additional comical point, that could be connected to Luis Alberto de Cuenca’s general poetics.

Abstract
